I get easily overwhelmed in this season of life. OK, I get easily overwhelmed, full stop. The tasks pile up. And not just simple daily tasks — I have plenty that I push off for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s organizing a cluttered drawer, dealing with an inbox full of unanswered messages (something I notoriously avoid), or tackling some other big thing that’s been lingering — it all seems to grow to mammoth size the longer I avoid, avoid, and avoid.
Which makes me avoid the tasks even more.
I had this moment of clarity the other day: What if instead of feeling overwhelmed by everything, I just focused on one small thing each day?
Made it manageable?
Got sh*t done?
Crossed off things on to-do lists?
Felt accomplished?
Had less anxiety? (Fingers crossed.)
